If you have never got to spend any time on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, I would highly recommend taking the time to do so. On April 27th, CCS co-hosted an Emergency Response Demonstration in Golden Meadow, LA with ESI for a collection of First Responders from up and down the Gulf Coast of Louisiana. On display at this event ESI (http://www.esicompanies.com) had their Skycop video surveillance trailer and CCS had one of our MERC pCom trailers with an inflatable shelter on display. The event was a live demonstration of how quickly a mobile power, satellite, and video network could be up and operational. In less than 15 minutes of deploying the MERC pCom and Skycop units, a live satellite network with 5 mbps down and 1.5 mbps up was working providing mobile internet access, live video feeds and storage, Hosted VoIP, a Motorola VHF radio network with a 15 mile radius of the trailer, and a wireless LAN around the trailer perimeter. What really impressed the attendees was that all of this was being provided by such a small trailer, something they could tow with a Police car!

The Texas National Guard MERC trailer build out project continues. The first 2 new MERC 20 foot enclosed trailers have been delivered with the remaining three already in production. These mobile power and satellite communication command center trailers are being used to deploy the JISCC communication package for the J6 Team. These MERCs are being custom built to the Guard’s specific requirements and will be the first disaster response trailers deployed by the Guard in Texas in the event of a natural or man-made disaster that requires their presence.

CCS has formalized our relationship with Crescent Unmanned Systems (http://www.crescentunmanned.com) and is now an Authorized Reseller for them in North America. We will soon be offering a new version of our MERC trailer that is designed as a launching platform, control and operation center, and storage facility for their line of unmanned surveillance systems. It is our belief that Crescent has the most advanced unmanned unit on the Market and the capabilities these products are going to provide will truly transform many of the day to day tasks that First Responders perform every day. For example, these units can take over a vehicle pursuit situation allowing the officers to safely monitor these criminals from the air without risking their lives in a high speed chase.

CCS continues to work on new projects with Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, the New York National Guard, and Harris County Sheriff’s office. Much more on these projects in next month’s update. The start of the 2012 Hurricane Season is less than a month away! Please do not get caught unprepared, call CCS today.

Sincerely,

2012 has gotten off to a very busy start for CCS. Our business in North America continues to grow as more opportunities expand overseas in both the Middle East and South America. Our relationship with the Texas National Guard continues to expand as we are working on our 22nd Mobile Emergency Response Center (MERC) build out for them within the last 18 months. These MERC trailers were jointly designed with the J6 Team at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas to support the deployment of their JISCC communication package. JISCC stands for “Joint Incident Site Communications Capability” and it is a mobile communications hardware platform used by the Military to provide communication capabilities during emergency response situations. It is a very robust package consisting of mobile satellite hardware and service, internet access, radio interoperability, UPS power for 2 hours, mobile radios, wireless IP Phone, satellite phone, RF scanner, rugged laptops, video conferencing equipment, and accessory equipment. All of this equipment is housed in portable shock mount cases that can be quickly transferred to vehicles, trailers, aircraft, etc..

The design of the MERC trailer CCS provides the Guard enables these portable JISCC cases to be stacked and secured on the floor of the trailer for easy front and rear access to all of the communication equipment. E-trac is installed on the walls of the trailer and recessed tie downs are placed in the floor of the trailer to allow these cases to be completely secured with tie down straps during transport. A custom cabinet was built with slide out dividers to allow the lids to these cases to be stored while the equipment is being used. The trailer is equipped with several 30 amp and 20 amp power outlets to connect the equipment and an Onan 12,000 watt diesel generator is used to provide power. There are four internal work stations all wired back to a central patch panel. The exterior of the trailer is equipped with a 2-step side awning system, 50 amp shore power in and out weatherproof connectors, a 40 foot pneumatic mast wired for all radio frequencies, external 500 watt quartz lights, and a satellite mounting platform. By using this customized MERC trailer, the Guard has reduced their time to deploy the JISCC package from 4 hours down to less than 20 minutes.

CCS is also proud to announce that we were awarded a contract by ESI Companies out of Memphis, TN to jointly provide the City of Nashville, TN Police Department a new Mobile Emergency Response Center trailer. It is a 22 foot V-Nose bumper pull trailer equipped with a 40 foot pneumatic mast, a bathroom and kitchenette, 4 internal work stations, three internal Hi-Definition tvs, roof mounted antenna raceways equipped with 4 NMO mounts per raceway, an Onan 12,000 watt diesel generator, and an exterior removable work station. ESI provides a complete line of video surveillance trailers along with a wide array of wireless and video products. This is our first project with ESI so we are very excited about this new partnership.

The work continues on the new MERC trailer for Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston, Texas. The MERC is a 32 foot gooseneck style trailer designed to transport and support a Zumro portable building that can house 50 First Responders during an emergency response. During transport this trailer will house 50 chairs, dozens of tables, Heating and AC equipment, communication and data equipment, and the portable shelter. There will be a large storage compartment located at the front of the trailer and the interior of the trailer will be equipped with a sliding wall to provide more floor space when needed. There will be much more on this trailer as it is completed and delivered to the customer in April 2012.

CCS has also been awarded several other contracts including a contract by the Texas Department of Public Safety to build out 6 of our MERC trailers for their response team for use in the great state of Texas. These are the first trailers we have done for DPS so we are very excited about this new relationship. Through our relationship with A1 Security Cameras we have been awarded a contract to build out a MERC-V mobile video surveillance trailer for Exxon. The MERC-V will be used to provide 24X7 security at drill sites by providing video surveillance. Much more detail will be provided on these projects in next month’s update.

As we continue to grow our business we are always looking for new products or services that can be added to our existing MERC and PERC offers to complement or enhance the overall solution. For example, our relationship with Zumro has allowed us to now offer inflatable shelters that can deployed with our MERC trailers to provide additional work space at a minimal cost to the customer. A very exciting new offer CCS will be announcing in March will be the addition of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to our product line. A UAV is a small unmanned airplane or helicopter that can be equipped with wireless and video equipment to allow Police and other First Responders the ability to remotely survey an area from the air to find a lost child, a wanted fugitive, identify any potential threats, etc.. A small remote control console can be used to pilot these vehicles and the video feeds can be streamed back to a wireless connection on the MERC trailer to allow the controllers to monitor, record, and respond to the situation. The applications for these type of products are endless and CCS is looking forward to being able to provide these new services to our customers.

Please contact me directly with any questions.

Sincerely.

With Christmas and New Year’s behind us, CCS is moving forward with a busy start to 2012. 2011 ended with CCS delivering our first Mobile Emergency Response Center (MERC) trailer to the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. After the National Guard Conference in Orlando, Florida the last week of November, we had the Puerto Rico MERC Lite trailer loaded on a barge and transported to San Juan, Puerto Rico. From there the MERC was picked up by the Guard and taken to Camp Santiago between San Juan and Ponce (very beautiful place!). We spent two full days working with the J6 Team training them on the setup and storage of the MERC Lite trailer including the new inflatable shelter that was provided with the MERC. The MERC was equipped with an Onan 12,000 watt diesel generator and 100 gallon tank, a 30 foot pneumatic mast, a General Dynamics 1.35 meter satellite dish system, three climate controlled equipment racks, complete radio wiring and antennas for VHF, UHF, and 700/800 service, and our new custom built inflatable shelter that secures to the rear of the trailer allowing access to all 3 equipment racks from inside the shelter. The shelter is climate controlled by utilizing a heating and ac unit located in the MERC trailer and two 6 inch flexible conduits. We have a video posted on YouTube of the Puerto Rico J6 Team setting this trailer up for the first time without any help from CCS (http://youtu.be/m43bzQpSR2Q ). The goal was to have the trailer completely operation with all network connectivity and the shelter deployed in 15 minutes, but the Guard was able to make this happen in 12 minutes and 36 seconds.

Continuing with the National Guard theme, CCS has been awarded a contract by the Texas National Guard out of Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas to build 5 new MERC trailers. These trailers will be combined with the 17 existing MERC trailers the Guard procured from us in 2010 and 2011 to expand their fleet to 22 units. These new MERC trailers are designed to more quickly deploy their new JISCC packages in the event of a disaster response. The 2012 version of the Texas Guard MERC will be a 20 foot trailer with 4 internal work stations, two 15,000 BTU heating and ac units, additional overhead and storage cabinets, 42 foot Tempest pneumatic mast with dual air compressors, a Cummins Onan 12,000 watt diesel generator, two rows of E-Trac and multiple tie down points for securing their JISCC equipment, a roof mounted satellite platform for their fly away sat dish, antenna raceways with 8 NMO mounts for radio whip antennas, 4 LMR-400, 1 LMR-200, and 1 CAT 5e cable run to the Nycoil cable on the mast, 4 removable antenna mounting arms, two 500 watt quartz lights on the mast, and a 18 foot side awning system. The first of these 5 MERC units will be delivered later this month so more detail and pictures to come. It is important to note that the MERC trailer is designed to allow the Texas Guard to keep their JISCC equipment in it’s portable cases in the event that it needs to be deployed or moved to another location without the trailer.

CCS continues to work with the US Army on the delivery of 11 Mobile Emergency Operation Centers (MEOCs) to the Country of Chile. This project combines 11 modified Chevrolet Suburbans and 11 MERC trailers equipped with BGAN satellite equipment, Motorola land mobile and portable radios, Raytheon ACU equipment, mobile computers and printers, HF radio equipment, and portable generators. This generous donation by the US Government to Chile has greatly advanced their emergency preparedness for any future man made or natural disasters. The project has also caught the attention of several neighboring South American countries causing them to look at similar solutions for their own emergency response teams. CCS is expanding our focus on Central and South America through our relationship with Cambridge International Systems and with some new partners – much more on this focus next month.

CCS is very excited to announce that we have been awarded some MERC trailer build outs by Harris County Sheriff’s Office in the Houston Area and by ESI in Memphis, TN. Both of these projects are still in the early build out stages so I will provide more info and detail on these next month. CCS has added another trailer technician to our Service Dept, Brian Shaw. Brian will be reporting to Doug Smith our Services Manager and assisting in MERC trailer build outs and support.

Hope everyone had a great 2011 and is as excited about 2012 as we are! Please feel free to contact me directly with any comments or questions.
