CCS has been attendance this week in Tyler, Texas for a mobile command center rally event sponsored by the East Texas Council of Governments and Smith County. First Responders from all over North Texas have descended on Tyler at Tyler Junior College to practice deploying their mobile communication packages in a simulated disaster response scenario. The event started Friday May 17th and runs through Sunday May 18th.
CCS brought two of our units: a MERC-Lite satcom trailer with a Zumro Air Shelter and the new MERC-UASC drone deployment trailer. AT&T FirstNet led by Mark Compton was in attendance along with Verizon Wireless. Several CCS customers were in attendance including Texas DPS, Denton County, Smith County, City of Tyler Fire Dept., and City of Longview Fire Dept. Mike Butler with Bearcom Wireless came out to support us as my “designated drone pilot”. The County did a great job of hosting the event and providing us some really good barbecue.
The exercise will continue through Sunday before everyone heads home. These type of drills allow these First Responders to “stay sharp” so when a real deployment occurs they are ready. Really appreciate all they do to keep us all safe!
