Little slow to post this, but last week we had the pleasure of attending the Central States Communication Exercise at the Downstream Resort in Quapaw, Oklahoma. This was a live exercise where First Responders from all over the country get together and do practice deployments with their mobile command centers and mobile comms gear. I know it’s a cliche but basically “practice makes perfect” and by doing these mock exercises all of these First Responders will be better prepared when a real emergency occurs. CCS worked with Jonathan Ayres with Central States Comm. Assoc. to provide a MERC command center trailer and Zumro Air Shelter complex for outdoor work space and network connectivity for the event staff. The network connectivity was well over 500 mbps down and 250 mbps up provided by a Kymeta LEO satellite, a Starlink, and a Dejero LTE router equipped with six sim cars (2 each from AT&T FirstNet, Verizon, and T-Mobile). The Dejero cloud service blended all of these networks together into a very robust network pipe. Very well attended event and look forward to next year’s exercise! Appreciate the support from our friends at Zumro Air Shelters, IP Access International, Dejero, and JPS!
The CCS setup at this important exercise showcased a trend in the mobile command center market – combining a Zumro Air Shelter awning or shelter with a mobile command center to provide additonal climate controlled work space for the First Responders on the deployment. It is not unusual on a typical deployment for an emergency response to have 15 or 20 officers and staff on scene and that is a lot of folks to fit into even a large mobile command center. By adding a Zumro air shelter to the mix the customer can easily provide another 200 to 800 square feet of climate controlled work space. This frees up the interior of the command center for the essential staff required to keep it operational.
One of the best Zumro Air Shelter options for a mobile command center is an inflatable awning. These awnings physically attach to one side of the command center througha simple sliding rail system allowing the command center exterior wall to become a shared wall in the shelter. This provides stability for the shelter, environmental protection when a user is leaving the command center and walking into the shelter, and much needed additional work space. Another real benefit with the Zumro Air Shelters is that they are all designed to be interlocking meaning they can easily attach to each other providing a seamless transition from one shelter to the next. For the Central States event CCS combined a Zumro awning with 400 square feet with a Zumro Quad unit that provided another 40o square feet.
